SDG YOUTH
INTRODUCTION
In 2015, the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) was adopted, with 17 related goals, or SDGs, at its core.
This approach requires accounting for different perspectives and sectoral agendas - and creates a need to shift from a governance structure of distinct agendas to a more integrated approach. The United Nations’ SDGs provide a blueprint to address some of the world’s gravest challenges; to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
Youth and youth-led organisations are often seen as the driving force for supporting the country’s development and thus play significant roles to contribute in balancing economic and social dimensions of sustainable development so as to be on the same agenda. However, recent youths’ engagements have highlighted that the young people lack on the progress of Wawasan Brunei 2035, this viewpoint may also extend to youths’ participation in the realization of the SDGs.
OBJECTIVES
Recognizing that bolder solutions, innovativeness, and more creative thinking are needed in delivering the 2030 SDGs Agenda, a Youth Engagement Session: Future Sustainability Leaders is proposed to be held.
To capture how youth in Brunei Darussalam contribute, impact or affect the achievement of the 17 SDGs;
To enhance youths’ involvement and advocate them and their perspectives, through empowerment of the relevant knowledge and skills; as well as providing opportunities, to have an effective partnership-enabling ecosystem;
To accelerate the effectiveness of collaboration towards delivering the 2030 Agenda, by having a more coordinated efforts to align the 2030 SDGs Agenda with Wawasan Brunei 2035 and National Youth Policy and Strategy.
To formulate an SDG Youth Statement to be reflected in Brunei Darussalam’s 2nd VNR report due to be submitted in July 2023; and
To follow up to the recommendations made in the SDG Youth Statement as Future Sustainability Leaders.
REGISTRATIONS
Applicants must be between 15 to 25 years old.

Better understanding of the SDG ecosystem, especially in Brunei Darussalam
Identifying SDG Youth Ambassadors who will be provided with grant to execute project(s), with the support of mentors.

This group will consist of young individuals from all four districts who are passionate about improving the lives of young people in their communities.

BYCE 2022: CLIMATE ACTION WEEK

11th ASEAN YOUTH
Echoing the ASEAN Chairmanship of Brunei Darussalam for 2021, the Brunei Youth Council (BYC) and ASEAN Youth Advocate Network (AYAN Brunei) in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Brunei Darussalam are pleased to host the 11th ASEAN Youth Forum (AYF) on 7th, 8th, 14th, 21st, 25th & 27th August 2021
hosted by Brunei Darussalam in a hybrid format.
The 11th ASEAN Youth Forum will be conducted under the theme “Future Ready in the New Normal” and aims to formulate ideas and recommendations on how to elevate the role of ASEAN youth in realising sustainable development and ensuring preparedness of ASEAN youth for future challenges such as the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and opportunities such as entrepreneurship with regards to the new normal - post pandemic.
Characters On The Run
The wait is officially over! We are happy to announce that the registration period has officially begun.
Character On The Run is offering 3 running distance of 15KM, 30KM, and 50KM and applicants are free to choose to complete their distance either through jogging, running, or hiking. Each category is priced at $30 where applicant is entitled to a shirt, medal, and an e-certificate.
HOW TO REGISTER?
Step 1: Head to our website and click the 'register now' button! You will then be directed to a google form where you can fill in the required details, including *distance of the run* and the shirt *size*.
Step 2: Proceed with payment through MBB's BIBD Account (00015010056759) and upload proof of payment.
Step 3: Run/Jog/Walk with us!
Download a tracking application that keeps track of the running distance. Once completed, submit your result.
Runners are encouraged to dress up and upload their pictures on Instagram with the hashtag #COTRBrunei, #COTRMainCharacter and #CharactersOnTheRun for more chances at winning the Lucky Draw!

PERSPEKTIV x Impact Dialogue
PERSPEKTIV is a community platform by Chevening Alumni Brunei which brings together leaders and emerging young leaders to meet, network and discuss perspectives that shape development. Hosted since March 2018 as a spin-off of the Brunei Chevening Youth Forum, PERSPEKTIV has brought together over 200 leaders discussing topics on Wawasan 2035, Youth Engagement & Future Ready Youth.
Impact Dialogue is an initiative by the Young Professionals Network aimed at creating a space for open, honest and constructive dialogue on matters related to employability, leadership and contribution to support the personal and professional development of young people to succeed meaningfully. The initiative aspires to convene breakthrough dialogues aimed at cultivating a positive mindset as well as a resilient attitude and ultimately inspire actions that contribute to development.
The special 4th Edition is a collaboration of PERSPEKTIV & Impact Dialogue themed "Reimagining the Future in the New Paradigm" which sees three organisations - Chevening Alumni Brunei, Young Professionals Network & Brunei Youth Council - come together to decipher the realities of an uncertain future unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic to shape and reinforce our understanding of the new paradigm and discuss opportunities that we can create together in an open mic sharing participants in attendance.
Participants attend the forum, free of charge, made possible by the Chevening Alumni Programme Fund.
Seats are limited on a first-come, first-serve basis. Buffet dinner will be served.
